Outcome

The splashpad at Sunbury Aquatic Centre was the result of a deeply collaborative and community-led design process, ensuring the final outcome genuinely reflected the needs and aspirations of the people it serves. The equipment suite spans a considered range of scale and play typology — from the commanding platform tower with dual slides to mid-scale interactive elements including an aqua dome, spray loops, waterleaf and garden bug. Each piece was selected and positioned to layer distinct physical and sensory experiences across the space, with water serving as the unifying element that activates and transforms every interaction. The result is a cohesive water play environment that moves well beyond the toddler pool it replaced — broader in appeal, richer in experience, and purposefully designed to draw families back season after season.
